OVERVIEW

The EOM POS USB Cash Drawer Trigger enables seamless integration of cash drawers with USB-enabled systems. Designed for modern POS setups, it allows cash drawers to connect directly to a computer’s USB port, eliminating the need for a printer or cash register as an intermediary.  

Using a virtual serial port driver, the USB trigger mimics an RS232 serial port, ensuring compatibility with existing POS software. This plug-and-play solution is ideal for systems where a printer is not in use, offering a simple and efficient way to manage cash drawer operations.

IMPORTANT: Not compatible with Square. Works with Windows PC only.

DESCRIPTION

HOW TO CREATE A SHORTCUT TO POP THE CASH DRAWER
1-Find the COM port number the adapter is using, in device manager 
2-Right click on the desktop, click New>Shortcut
3-In the Location field, enter the following: 
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c echo hello>comX

REPLACE THE LAST X WITH THE COM NUMBER IN DEVICE MANAGER
4-Click next
5-Enter a name for the shortcut (e.g. pop drawer)
6- Click finish

You will now have a shortcut on the desktop, which when double clicked, will pop the drawer.

Optional: set a keyboard hotkey:
1- Right click on the shortcut
2- Select the shortcut tab
3- Select the shortcut key field
4- Enter the keyboard key you want to use.
5- Click OK

Is this USB trigger compatible with my cash drawer and POS system?  

The EOM POS USB Cash Drawer Trigger is compatible with most standard cash drawers and Windows-based POS systems that support USB connectivity. However, it is NOT compatible with Square. 

How do I connect the USB trigger to my cash drawer and computer?  

Connecting the USB trigger is simple:  
1. Plug the USB trigger into an available USB port on your computer.  
2. Connect the cash drawer to the USB trigger using the provided cable.  
3. The virtual serial port driver will allow your POS software to recognize the cash drawer as if it were connected via a standard RS232 serial port.

Can I use this USB trigger if I don’t have a POS printer?  

Yes, the EOM POS USB Cash Drawer Trigger is specifically designed for systems where a POS printer is not in use. It allows the cash drawer to connect directly to your computer via USB.

Does this work with my existing POS software? 

The USB trigger uses a virtual serial port driver, which makes it appear to your POS software as a standard RS232 serial port. This ensures compatibility with most existing POS software without requiring additional configuration.
